MdC project in Rwanda: Supporting self-help through the combination of coffee and regional craftsmanship

Project name: Rwanda Coffee Village

Woman Farmers Handcrafts Bag – A unique piece made with heart
Each Woman Farmers Handcrafts Bag tells a story – a story of hope, community, and self-determination. In the green hills of Rwanda, where some of the world's finest coffees grow – including our Rwanda Kamajumba fully washed – dedicated women have come together to create something wonderful with their own hands.

With great skill and traditional craftsmanship, they weave these unique bags from natural materials. No two are alike, as the color combinations and weaving techniques make each one a unique work of art. Robust and versatile, it's the perfect companion – whether for shopping, commuting to work, as a beach bag, or for your next picnic.

But this bag is far more than just a practical accessory. It's a symbol of a better future. 100% of the proceeds go directly to the MdC project "Rwanda Coffee Village," which offers local women a sustainable future.

Project goal:
Many coffee plantations in Rwanda employ temporary workers who lack year-round employment. Women are particularly affected, finding work on the farms for only three to four months a year. This leads to a heavy reliance on seasonal income sources and reduces their economic security.

Our commitment aims to improve the situation by creating more employment opportunities for women. The first step is for the women on the farms to produce local handicrafts and bring these products to our roastery via coffee containers. Selling these handcrafted items will allow us to raise capital that will be invested in establishing a small coffee shop on a busy street in Rwanda. We will equip this coffee shop with a coffee machine, two grinders, and start-up capital to set up the small "street café."

How the project works:
The coffee shop will not only offer coffee, tea, and cold drinks, but will also sell locally produced goods and handcrafted items made by the women. These sales will create a long-term source of income, enabling the women to remain financially independent year-round.

Long-term goal:
Through the success of this project, we aim to establish a sustainable, year-round source of income for several groups of women. In this way, we will contribute to strengthening the economic independence and social standing of women in the region, while simultaneously promoting local handicrafts and coffee cultivation in Rwanda.

Together for sustainable change:
With your support, we can make a real difference in the lives of many women in Rwanda. Help us move this project forward and create a stable source of income for women in the region.
