At Mondo del Caffè, we place particular importance on ensuring that you don't have to compromise when enjoying your morning elixir. Since 2001, we have been importing the highest quality green coffee beans from every continent to our roastery in Echternach. We maintain close contact with the coffee farmers and pay prices significantly above the world market level (approximately two to three times higher). In return, we demand not only the best quality green coffee but, above all, adherence to our social standards. These include:

• no child labor
• Payment of fair wages for harvest workers and pickers
• no exploitation
• Biodiversity and the avoidance of unnecessary chemicals

Whether it's a cozy get-together with old friends, Sunday morning breakfast at home with the family, or a quick espresso – we've long known that coffee is something special and connects us all. Perfect conditions, then, for a family business that loves, experiences, and constantly reinvents coffee. That's Mondo del Caffé.

Ethiopia, Mexico, India… With the diverse range of coffee beans from around the world, we have to individually adjust the roasting process for each variety to give every coffee the chance to develop its full character and aromas. Our master roaster decides, on a case-by-case basis, when each coffee has reached its perfect ripeness. We exclusively roast our beans using the drum roasting method, which means:

We roast for approximately 18-20 minutes at 200-210°C. This gives our coffees almost ten times more time than the industry, allowing acids and bitter compounds to break down and aromas and flavors to develop. None of our roasting processes are fully automated; each coffee develops differently – sometimes even depending on the season (humidity and climate). We understand this and love our craft!

We visit the coffee farmers directly at the source. We carefully select partners there with whom we want to work. We discuss our requirements with them – both regarding the quality of the green coffee we want and ethical principles. We simply don't want children on the farm to have to toil. Of course, they should be allowed to help their parents, but they should be able to decide freely and not be forced to do so (due to financial hardship, for example). We also don't want harvest workers to be put in danger while picking due to a lack of equipment or for their accommodations to be in poor condition. Since most coffee comes from countries where people live well below the poverty line, we place great importance on ensuring that our partners receive a fair price for their work (significantly higher than would otherwise be the case). Because it's important to us, and to you, that the harvest workers are not exploited and that infrastructure can be maintained or created where, for example, the children of the farmers and the helpers can play and learn. It is important to tackle the problem directly – and we are doing this together with the local farmers and thanks to you as customers of Mondo del Caffè.

If the coffee meets these standards and the farmers strive to maintain and even improve this quality, it represents a successful and future-oriented partnership for both parties. We receive top-quality green coffee beans, which, thanks to our expertise, are transformed into exceptional roasted coffees, and the farmers and their helpers are paid fairly. We support the coffee producers (both financially and with expertise), often enabling improvements to plantings or processes. This empowers the farmers and their helpers to provide for themselves and their families. And the coffee quality can often be further enhanced. We also ensure planning security through purchase guarantees and contribute to the farmers' financial independence.

Each of our project coffees has its own little story. But they all have one thing in common: they support projects all over the world.
