The precious manuka plant, also known as the South Sea myrtle, grows only in New Zealand and Australia. Its profusion of blossoms from April to June provides bees with the unique nectar from which this liquid gold is produced. The special active ingredient methylglyoxal (MGO) gives the honey its exceptional potency – the higher the MGO value, the more intense its properties.
