Origin & Cultivation
Finca Yuri coffee from Colombia comes from the renowned Finca Yuri, a small family farm in Colombia. This region is known for its ideal climatic conditions, perfectly suited for coffee cultivation. The farm is nestled amidst lush vegetation and offers optimal conditions for the growth of high-quality coffee plants.
Yuri, the owner of the finca, is a former farm worker at El Encanto. Here, we support Yuri and her small family (three daughters: Sara, Anna Maria, and Arda) with a fixed monthly income and a purchase guarantee. Together with Tierra de Café, we have also purchased new drying facilities, fermentation tanks, and a pulper. Previously, it was very difficult for her to make ends meet.
Since 2016, after an accident, Yuri has only been able to work on the farm to a limited extent. Despite her limitations, she manages the farm (three hectares) and, if you're not careful, continues to pick coffee despite her illness. Normally, Juan's pickers, who come over from Hacienda El Encanto, do that. So everyone helps each other out wherever they can.
Sustainability & Quality
Sustainability is paramount at Finca Yuri. Cultivation takes place without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers. Instead, natural fertilizers and traditional farming methods are used to protect the environment and promote biodiversity. This sustainable approach helps ensure the quality of the coffee while simultaneously supporting the farmers' livelihoods.
Harvest & Processing
The Colombian Finca Yuri coffee is harvested by hand, ensuring that only the ripest cherries are picked. This guarantees the high quality and consistency of the beans. After harvesting, the coffee cherries are carefully washed and sun-dried to preserve their natural aromas. This process significantly contributes to developing the coffee's rich and balanced flavor profile.
The coffee is of superb quality, and we are delighted to be able to offer it. Especially after upgrading our infrastructure (depulper, fermentation tank, drying system), we noticed a real leap in quality. The coffee can be processed faster and fresher, and it dries more quickly and consistently. This simply makes it better.
