THAT'S not COFFEE, IT'S LUPIN
Lupin is often marketed as "coffee," but apart from the preparation method, the two have nothing in common. The reason for drinking lupin as a coffee substitute is simply to avoid caffeine.
To forgo it would not do justice to the drink's value.

With lupin, you can discover entirely new flavor profiles. Known for many years, lupin is becoming a truly trendy drink with a wonderfully fresh and mildly aromatic taste.

What is the lupine?
The lupin is a plant belonging to the same plant family as peas and beans. It was once widespread in fields and on farms, its bright white flowers creating a beautiful sight. The wild lupin is poisonous, primarily due to its strong bitter compounds. However, starting in 1926, selective breeding led to the development of the sweet lupin, which remains common today.

Nowadays, sweet lupins are primarily found on organic farms, as the plant is ideally suited for soil regeneration in crop rotation. Lupins are used as an effective green manure on many farms and are therefore cultivated on a large scale. As a crop, lupins have only recently regained popularity. Lupin hot drinks, in particular, are enjoying great popularity. The lupins are harvested in late summer when the seeds are fully ripe. These must be cleaned and dried before being roasted. Lupins are a great alternative for anyone who wants to reduce their lupin's natural flavor.

Taste and aroma

The preparation and production are based on classic coffee. However, the aroma and taste have nothing to do with a multifaceted brewed coffee. Subtle hints of nuts, almonds, and roasted notes mingle with a full-bodied flavor with very little bitterness.
